Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars expected release date
According to Disney, which is the parent company of Marvel Studios, the highly anticipated movie Avengers: Doomsday will now be out on December 18, 2026. Initially, the movie was scheduled to release on May 1, 2026. Doomsday is currently in production, and its filming began earlier this year with the grand announcement of its cast. The movie is scheduled to release in December, so that its release falls during the holidays, gaining much momentum at the box office.
The movie’s rescheduling didn’t surprise many, given that full-scale shooting hadn’t even begun. Looking back, Spider-Man: No Way Home, which was released in December 2021, during the holiday season, grossed nearly two billion dollars worldwide.
On the other hand, Avengers: Secret Wars will now be released on December 17, 2027. It was initially scheduled to release on May 2, 2027. According to Reuters, the new schedule was opted to give the makers more time to complete the upcoming superhero movies.
The sudden move to reschedule both movies could very well be one of Marvel Studios’ strategic moves to maximise earnings from its biggest releases.
